Large ANTIQUE GERMAN SANTA SLEIGH REINDEER HEAVILY EMBOSSED DIE CUT 1900-1920

  
An antique large German SANTA IN SLEIGH W/REINDEER heavily embossed die cut. From the early period, 1900 - 1920, this wonderful old piece has terrific early appeal. Santa is in a long coat waving a bell in an ornate sleigh with finely detailed reindeer in a bell harness. There are many Santa in sleigh die cuts made after this period, notably the 1930's through the 1960's. Those are less detailed; Santa wears shorter coats and they are much smaller.

Their colors also lack the tone and subtlety of the true antique ones. This antique die cut's colors are soft and lovely, and the piece is deeply embossed throughout. There are a couple of small bends (the A in Merry Christmas has a bend and the 3rd tree from the right has a bend at the top) and a few tiny pin holes.

A few slight rubs add to a great patina. This Santa is unusually large at 15.5" long by 9.5" tall. Hard to find an old piece in such wonderful shape. In overall excellent condition for 100+ years of age. A truly wonderful addition to your Antique Christmas collection.
