Antique Germany Santa, Sleigh, Fur Reindeer Putz Set
Offered is this wonderful Santa, wicker sleigh and furry reindeer set. Santa has a red wool felt coat and hat trimmed in silky mohair with blue felt pants. His face, mitten hands and boots are composition. He has a real wool beard and fringe hair and carries a feather tree branch.
He has a great face with a twinkle in his eye! I love his tasseled belt.
His sleigh is cream colored wicker and wood. The reindeer is plushy mohair with great airbrushed highlights over a paper mache body. He has glass eyes, metal antlers and lots of oil cloth trim and tacking.
There is a bit of flaking on the reindeer hooves and Santa boots, nothing dramatic. Antlers and legs are sturdy and intact. There is one piece of trim missing on the reindeer's right side. This set is stamped Germany as shown, older than those with the foil West German labels. Measurements are: 17 when set up as shown in the gallery photo. The reindeer is 6" long and 6" to the top of the ears, 7.5 to the top of the antlers. The sleigh is 9.25 long. Santa, when seated as shown, is 7 to the top of the head. All items are described to the best of my ability.
