Antique 1906 HUBLEY White Cast Iron (2) TWO REINDEER Drawn Sleigh w/Santa. This is a very difficult to find cast iron Christmas toy made just after the turn of the century by the Hubley Manufacturing Company, Lancaster, Pennsylvania, featuring Santa Claus in a sleigh being pulled by two reindeer.
It is is the double reindeer version versus the more popular single reindeer. The reindeer are articulated, so that as the toy is pulled along the floor, they rise up and down. Santa fits in his seat loosely holding which is most likely an added Christmas tree accent to make it more attractive. It is almost impossible to find this toy in this condition as often the wheels are replaced (both the reindeer wheels and the small sleigh wheels); often the reindeer antlers are broken, and more often than not, Santa is either missing or has missing or replaced arms.
Because of the foregoing this toy is very often repainted. This example is 100% free from repairs or cracks.
The sleigh is hand painted in the original white paint with gold high lighting and it has no restoration of any kind. Santa Claus has his original arms.
The toy is in excellent condition for something that is over 110 years old. Dimensions: 16 1/2" long x 3 1/2" wide x 7 high. I will also package this with extreme care because old cast iron is prone to breakage.
